OBSERVATION CLASSROOM ROUTINES

GRADE: 3rds, in total: 17 students. Following Cambridge power up 3 "Fun in the jungle". The group has 15 hours of English per week.

Regardless of the group, maintaining a daily routine adds structure to the day, classes, and overall group dynamics.



At the entrance to the classroom there is a contract where the students wrote the rules of the group and their signatures to commit to it.

In terms of lesson structure, the teacher usually begins by saying hello and asking how they are doing that day, validating their students' feelings, and at the beginning of the lesson, students are instructed to grab the materials needed to take to class.  At the beginning of class the teacher indicates the objective and what will be done that day, mentioning that at the end they will have a break.

In the classroom you can see a poster where students can find the name of the person in charge of responsibilities as a teacher's assistant, this position changes every week. In addition to that, there is a poster with the specific activities for each student related to their responsibilities in the different lessons.


At this school there is a no homework policy for grades 3rd and down, only classes above 4th grade have homework.

Reflection

Personally, I recognize the importance of providing a well-structured routine based on the needs of the students. Not only does it give a feeling of knowing what is coming ahead and what they can expect, unlike when they do not know what is next or where they are going, reducing anxiety. On the other hand, the student will be able to recognize his own time and know how to use it and how, in other words, the student has a sense of organization and time management.
