OBSERVATION ERROR MANAGEMENT

Date: 30.01.24

Grade: 3

Group composed of 18 students, that day 17 students attended. In this grade they have 15 formal hours of classes in English. The observation took place during a math lesson.

The aim of the lesson was about mathematics, it was a guiding students through a problem-solving activity involving multiplication. During the lesson, the teacher demonstrated an ability to recognize mistakes, including calculation errors, misinterpretations of problem and procedural mistakes. The teacher was constantly monitoring each students performance and providing with immediately feedback.

The feedback was delivered in a constructive and supportive way, focusing on the specific error made and providing guidance on how to correct it. The students had a good attitude towards the correction, they were grateful, corrected their mistakes and the outcome was positive.

In the teacher's opinion, the class ended well and most of the objectives were achieved. The teacher mentioned that not all of his planning was carried out but he had to limit it because it took him a long time to make the students understand the entire topic, he considered that it was more important to explain or monitor if everything had been understood correctly by the students. Paraphrasing the teacher, sometimes it's better to take the time and personalize it, supporting students who need constant monitoring and having more advanced students help others, or correct each other among peers.

In my opinion, the teacher achieved the objectives of the session in a good way, reinforced through compliments when necessary and supported his students in a meaningful and personal way, a good approach of achieving error management in the classroom.
